Water Crisis of Tehran :
While the air pollution has casted its shadow upon our city, threatening the lives of all living creatures and especially the humans, some other disturbing news is heard: the drinking water of Tehran will be cut by the first of February. According to the Tehran province water and swage department's report, the present water storage of the Karaj dam is 25.19 million cubic meters, Lar dam 6.18 million cubic meters and Latian dam 18.29 million cubic meters. While the Tehran 's daily consumption is about 2246661 cubic meters, and considering the fact that outflow rate of the dams is twice that of the inflow, it follows that in a month or so Tehran 's consumption will be at least 60 million cubic meters. With the depletion of available water storage and the increasing pressure on water wells, Tehran will have no more fresh water. Considering the fact that many of the country's programs are implemented at the last minutes, and also taking into account the beginning of the water crisis' reversed counting, the Green Front of Iran asks all the people to economize the water consumption. WE further request the mass media and especially the Islamic Republic of Iran's broadcasting to educate people about the best and the most practical methods of water consumption.
This organization is prepared for all kinds of cooperation on this matter. Finally, we request that the government and municipalities by legislating and enforcing appropriate regulations prevent the waste of water in governmental offices, public places and parks. The Green Front of Iran is prepared to cooperate without all environmental activists on this issue.
It is hoped that the environmental activists' warnings are taken seriously.
